We offer the following products:
Clear Diesel
Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel (ULSD) is the standard type of Diesel fuel available in Canada. Because of the links between sulphur and greenhouse gas pollution, the content of lubricating sulphur in Diesel was restricted to 15 ppm with the passage of Federal Environmental Protection Legislation in 2006. It is different from Dyed Diesel (also called coloured, red or off-road Diesel). Dyed fuels have a lower tax category used by remote site applications, construction sites, agricultural equipment and other applications that don’t add wear to roads and highways.
Seasonal Types of Diesel
All fuels supplied by Meridian Fuels meets the ASTM quality specifications and are drawn from the major refineries whose processing follows ISO fuel quality standards.
Temperature Adjustment
The composition of Diesel fuel is adjusted for seasonal temperatures. Diesel fuel is classified as 1D, 2D and 4D according to viscosity and pour point (the lowest temperature at which the liquid will flow). In Canada, two of these types are commonly available:
- 1D (also called Type A) which is used most of the year
- 2D (Type B) which is a lighter Diesel used in the colder winter months.
Dyed Diesel
Dyed Diesel is also called coloured, red or off-road Diesel. Dyed Diesel has a lower tax category used by remote site applications, construction sites, agricultural equipment and other applications that don’t add wear to roads and highways. Vehicles and equipment travelling on roads must use Clear fuel.
Gasoline
Gasoline is a transparent petroleum-derived liquid that is primarily used as a fuel in internal combustion engines. It consists mostly of organic compounds obtained by the fractional distillation of petroleum, enhanced with a variety of additives.
