Aviation Fuel

Aviation Fuels

We pride ourselves in being able to offer premium top quality products to our customers.  We have spent many years perfecting our company’s extremely detailed quality assurance program.

We offer the following aviation products:

Jet A-1 Aviation Fuel

Jet A-1 is a petroleum distillate blended from kerosene fractions designed for use in aircraft powered by gas-turbine engines.  It is clear to straw-coloured in appearance.  Jet fuel is the most commonly used fuel for commercial aviation which is produced to a standardized international specification.

100LL (Avgas)

Aviation Gasoline 100LL is an aviation fuel used to power spark-ignited piston-engine aircraft.  100LL is dyed blue for easy identification.  It can be distinguished from mogas (motor gasoline), which is the everyday petroleum spirit used in cars.  Avgas is formulated for stability, safety, and predictable performance under a wide range of environments, and is typically used in aircraft that use reciprocating or internal combustion engines.

Additives Available

Fuel System Icing Inhibitor (FSII)

FSII is a Jet fuel additive that prevents the formation of ice in fuel lines.  FSII is sometimes referred to by the registered, generic trademark Prist.  Jet fuel may contain a very small amount of dissolved water that does not appear in particulate form.  As an aircraft gains altitude, the temperature drops and Jet fuel's capacity to hold water is diminished.   Particulate water can separate out and could become a serious problem if it freezes in fuel lines or filters, blocking the flow of fuel and shutting down an engine.

FSII is an agent that is mixed with Jet fuel at a mixture between 0.10% and 0.15% by volume for the additive to work correctly, and the FSII must be distributed evenly throughout the fuel.

Corrosion Inhibitor

The corrosion inhibitor additive is a chemical compound that, when added to Jet fuel, decreases the corrosion rate of a material in contact with trace amounts of water.

Static Dissipator Additive (SDA)

SDA additive is used for treatment of Jet fuel in order to impart electrical conductivity and avoid buildup of static charge that could lead to sparks igniting fuel vapors.  Stadis 450 is the only additive being manufactured for this use in Jet fuel.  Canadian Standards require the use of the additive to reduce the risk from electrostatic charges.
